My Vista is very slow
The tower has the ribbon and space for a second HDD, but I cant get the computer to recognize it. All instructions I find use a regular XP windows disc but mine was pre-installed and I only have the silly restore disks. I have looked thru the minimum bios settings they show and there is nothing in there to change.

The boot time was slow because I left the jumper on the second hdd to act as a master. Once I removed it and set the CMOS to auto detect both hdd's the fast boot time returned. So the primary hdd is set as a master and the second hdd is acting as a single (stand alone drive). thx for the suggestions and help

The only thing that needs configuring (besides other necessary steps, ofcourse) is the second hdd, which needs to be jumpered to SLAVE mode. That's it. Other than that, simply follow the instructions which were supplied w/ the second hdd. Good Luck. remove nospam. from email before emailing.

I installed it, by booting from the Vista DVD, selecting the new hard drive, formatted it from there, and installed Vista onto it. have to create one registry key in order to protect the Vista volume from XP so there probably is no need to use any special techniques when installing Vista to have a safe system.

How do I add this HDD as part of the SYS volume? I would rather keep the only a single volume. My understanding is this should improve performance at a slight cost to fault tolerence. The problem is novell does not see this HDD at all. I can only get it to see device 0. The second drive must be device 1.
